Evidence-Based Obesity Care Guided by the Canadian Adult Obesity Clinical Practice Guidelines (Obesity Canada)
Expert Medical Weight Loss Care
Considering Ozempic®, Wegovy®, Mounjaro®, or another weight loss medication?
You’re not alone.
More Canadians than ever are seeking medical treatment for obesity and excess weight. While medications such as Ozempic®, Wegovy®, and Mounjaro® have transformed obesity treatment, they are not a “quick fix” and are not appropriate for everyone.
Successful weight management requires a comprehensive medical assessment, an individualized treatment plan, and ongoing support from a healthcare professional experienced in obesity management.
At Nero’s House Nurse Practitioner-Led Clinic, we offer a comprehensive Medical Weight Management Program designed to help you achieve meaningful, sustainable improvements in your health through evidence-based obesity care.
Our program follows the Canadian Adult Obesity Clinical Practice Guidelines (Obesity Canada) and recognizes obesity as a complex, chronic disease requiring compassionate, individualized medical care.
What Makes Our Program Different?
Our goal isn’t simply to prescribe medication—it’s to understand why weight has become difficult to manage and to develop a treatment plan that addresses the underlying causes.
Your initial assessment includes:
Ongoing Medical Support
Weight management is a journey—not a single appointment.
Most patients participate in our program for approximately 12 months, allowing us to safely optimize treatment, monitor progress, adjust medications when needed, and provide ongoing education and support.
Throughout the program we provide:
Medication prescribing and dose adjustments
You will continue seeing your family physician or nurse practitioner for your routine healthcare while we focus specifically on obesity management.
Patients can self-refer or receive a referral from their Health Care Provider.
Our Medical Weight Management Program follows the 5As Framework for Adult Obesity Management, an evidence-based approach developed by Obesity Canada.
We begin by listening. We take the time to understand your concerns, your health goals, and your previous experiences with weight management.
We perform a comprehensive assessment to understand the factors contributing to weight gain, including your medical history, medications, lifestyle, body composition, and obesity-related health conditions.
We provide personalized, evidence-based recommendations and discuss the treatment options that are appropriate for you. This may include lifestyle interventions, behavioural strategies, and weight loss medications.
Together, we develop a realistic treatment plan based on your goals, preferences, and overall health.
We provide ongoing follow-up, medication management, education, and encouragement to help you achieve lasting success.
